Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 is a landmark work of documentary theatre written and originally performed by Anna Deavere Smith about the civil unrest following the 1992 Rodney King verdict. The show was originally created and performed as a one-woman show where Smith transformed into dozens of distinct real-life figures. This adaptation utilizes an ensemble cast who play several roles each in the form of monologues that depict each ‘character’s’ personal experiences leading up to, during, and after the verdict.
Available Cast/Rolls:
2 Asian, 2 African-American, 2 Latine, and 1 Caucasian actor, any age, any gender.
Because this is verbatim documentary theater, actors do not play standard characters; instead, they shift fluidly across gender, socio-economic, and age boundaries to present a tapestry of a city in crisis.
